There are pictures to come from my chocolate making course, and also from Pumpkin’s birthday visit to the zoo.
I just have to find the time.
I preached 5 different sermons last week, and it’s looking like another busy one this week! I’ll take the bosses Wed morning service, speak at a dawn service on ANZAC day, then my usual Sunday.
This is the advertisement for a local Funeral Company.
I feel a little confused…
It’s about a funeral. What is the future you’re securing?
Is it that you’re securing the future of your kids/family by making sure that they don’t have to bear the financial burden of a very expensive funeral?
Is it that you’re securing the future that you want in terms of being cremated, or buried, or being in a particular casket, or a particular graveyard?
Is it that you can feel secure that there is one thing you don’t have to worry about in the future?
Don’t get me wrong. I think preparing for this future inevitability is a wise and thoughtful thing for people to do. But is this the way to sell it? I guess it seems to me that if you’re looking for security when approaching the reality of death and the ceremonies that go with it, the best place to go would be the author of life and Lord of all creation.
When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”
“Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
I have vivid memories of going to a cigar bar with an old Bible study leader. Nowadays I’m less inclined, even after the birth of kids (the traditional cigar moment!) to have one. I can’t get over the cancer aspect. But I’m not against other people smoking them if they choose.
I LOVE the video though. I’m coming to appreciate that I’m a bit of a classical romantic (as in the era, not buying roses), so I just love the story that goes with a video like this.
What if Church felt more like this? What if people had more of a sense of being “real” when they came together in worship?
So, we hung out on the grass at Umina for a bit. The wee ones were looking too cute not to snap.
For some reason they’ve all gone in backwards…. but you get the idea…

So we headed down to Umina playground. It’s a 20+ minute drive but it is always worth it. There was lots of stuff for the kids to play on, but the swings always tend to win out…

We had a lovely day off today. We seemed to cram so much in that I’m going to have to post it in three parts.
It will be almost all photos, so this ought to hold at bay all those who’ve been wanting lots more pictures of the family.
We grabbed a quick photo or two before we left the house, happy that the Bear & the Boss are sitting up happily now.
Happy Bear
It’s loving to see Pumpkin playing with her little brothers
I love to see the sibs play with each other.
While the bear played on the ground, the Boss scored extra snuggles from mum!

Kiddies corner is the best!Gumnut at play.A rare moment where none of the kids needs something…I just love this picture of my wife!
I’m always happy for the caffeine. The kids are always happy if they get a babycino, and doubly happy if they get to share some banana bread with mum & dad!
Contemplation of the Banana Bread. “It will be mine!”Happy to have some family time.Pointing to where all the food & drink goes.Marshmallows were swapped for little Easter eggs this weekend. No babycino for me? No worries!
Really, one of the best things about Loo Loo’s Coffee Warehouse is Loo Loo herself. The kids love her even more than we do!
Chatting with Loo LooFun TimesBoss: “Heh, they’re taking photos of us!” Bear: “What?”
There was lots more to do, but that will have to wait for another time.
